More Than Grannies

What a joy it was yesterday to spend some time talking by phone with cybersister Joan - A Portland Granny. It's not the first time a stitch in the fabric of friendship has been tightened; nor is it likely to be the last. I've enjoyed other real discussions with some of you, too -- be it by phone or email. What's so amazing is how it all happens here in a virtual community.
.
When Joan and I had been speaking little more than a minute or two, I felt I'd known her for years; many years. Her strong voice and ready chuckle made me think at once of my own sisters. The anecdotes she shared only emphasized the similarities. In so little time I learned a lot about her, and likely she about me. I marveled at the course of her life, and felt humbled by her trust.
.
After an hour's chat, I couldn't help but wonder about Joan's future, and mine. Why is it the Lord has called us here to the blogosphere, anyway? What does He have in mind for the many friendships that are forming? Could it be the youngers here inspire the olders? Could it be the olders encourage the youngers? Could it be that this is the uttermost of the outermost parts of the world in which we have been told to "go"?
.
Oh, I know, the blogosphere has become all things to all people. But whether it's the upside or downside of one's motives, it's powerful.
.
And no matter what the call, I for one am deeply indebted to the God that continues to amaze me. His ways are truly so much higher than mine, reaching beyond the fringes of eternity, and even into cyberspace. Seems He's building His kingdom even here.
.
Thank you, Joan. You made my day!

I can't begin to count the wonderful friends that God has put in my path through blogging. Even though I've not personally met most of you, I feel a connection like we've known each other for years! My days are lifted in spirit by your comments on my posts, reading your posts and your emails of personal encouragement, concerns and prayers. It's a God connection for sure!

Well said!! I Love Joan, she reached out to me with a very sweet email one day and we have been cyber friends ever since. I have often wondered about the very thing you wrote about. The possibilities and opportunities we have with our blogs are wide open. God is so amazing in how he works and who he places in our path weather it be in real life or on the internet.

As always, just wonderful!

Blessings
Robin

Thank you for your sweet words. I, too, felt it was wonderful to visit with you. Sometimes a good visit is what we need, to look at life in a new and positive way. I had some "aha" moments as we were talking and will write to you in more detail soon.

Thanks for sharing yourself with me for that meaningful hour of sharing!

Woman of all ages...I like that. It blesses me to see the younger and older women compliment one another.

I have seen God use blogging as a tool to further His kingdom. I have been able to minister to some of my blog buddies, and have recently been on the receiving end of some of that ministry. What a blessing!

Thanks for being such a special friend to me, Kathleen.

Hi Kathleen,

Yes, the blogosphere has certainly opened the door up to many friendships that have been made and true sisters-in-Christ. For me personally, I feel that God has orchestrated our steps and we have made the choice to follow them. I made the choice to go out farther in the blogosphere in March of this year and I know in my heart that it was all from Him and absolutely will always be for Him.

I'm so glad that you came into my life dear sister for you have enriched me in so many ways. I truly treasure our being friends and sisters through Him.

Love you,
Alleluiabelle

God's utter and outer "most" has landed in some mighty fine places, don't you think? It's landed you in my world, and I marvel at his grand design in allowing us these precious moments of sacred intersection.

We are blessed to walk this road as sisters and friends through Jesus Christ.

Sassy Granny :) I thank God for landing you in my life even if it is via blog land. I have been blessed by every relationship GOD has permitted and provided and I don't take the ones on or off line for granted.

Beautiful message and may all of our relationships honor THE LORD.

Love and hugs.

Isn't it just amazing how
the Lord brings us together? I have met more Arizona moms and grandmothers through my blog, then I knew while living in Arizona!
Have a blessed day!
